Esther and Jerry Hicks’ New Book, The Vortex, Takes on Relationships

The latest in the bestselling Law of Attraction series, The Vortex, focuses on love, friendship, and the false premises that are at the heart of relationship issues.

The couple who provided the inspiration for Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret, Esther and Jerry Hicks, have been writing books and holding workshops about The Law of Attraction for more than twenty years. Their latest book and tour, The Vortex, looks at how the law applies to personal relationships.

While Esther and Jerry are the authors people see and hear, they say that the information they share does not come from them, but is rather channeled from a group of “non-physical teachers” who collectively go by the name of Abraham. As Jerry writes in the book’s preface, their intention is “to give you a more conscious awareness of the potential depth and breadth of the vast network of relationships, that, on a practical, day-to-day basis, affect your swirling Vortex of natural Well-Being.”

The Teachings of Abraham and Good Vibrations

Working on the basic premise that humans are here to enjoy life, Abraham encourages readers to see themselves as vibrational beings, and to find ways to bring their vibration into alignment with the things they want in life. Abraham argues that an individual’s vibration is key to the life they lead, as the Law of Attraction brings things that vibrate on the same level together.

In The Vortex, Abraham says that when it comes to relationships people should check they are on solid ground, and are "in alignment" before speaking or acting. Rather than “think before you speak,” Abraham writes that people should feel before they speak. Though examples in the book, they argue that it’s important for people to think, decide if they feel in alignment, then speak or act if appropriate.

The Most Important Relationship of All is With Ourselves

In the final lines of the TV series Sex and The City, Carrie Bradshaw says, “The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

From TV sex columnist, to channeled wisdom from non-physical entities, the advice is the same. While The Vortex looks at how to improve relationships with friends, relatives, colleagues and even interactions with strangers, it argues the most important relationship of all is with ourselves. Crediting Abraham with the words, Esther Hicks writes, “There is no relationship of greater importance to achieve than the relationship between you, in your physical body, right here and now, and the Soul/Source/God from which you have come. If you tend to that relationship first and foremost you will then, and only then, have the stable footing to proceed into other relationships.”

The Law of Attraction Series Reaches Best Seller Status

The Hicks’ have published more than ten books based on The Teachings of Abraham. Four of their books have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list, with Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health and Happiness reaching the number one position in 2008.

They are currently working on a series of four Law of Attraction books, of which The Vortex: Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships is the third in the series.

The Vortex follows on from The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, which was published in 2006, and Money and the Law of Attraction, which was released in 2008. The fourth and final book in the series, Spirituality and the Law of Attraction is due to be released in 2011.

Esther and Jerry Hicks’ to Tour Australia with The Vortex

As part of their Vortex tour, Esther and Jerry Hicks will hold a couple of one-day workshops in Australia. In the open forum, members of the audience will be able to ask Esther and Abraham personal questions about the Law of Attraction.

The Hicks’ will be appearing on the Gold Coast on the 11th of December, and in Sydney on 13 December 2009. Tickets cost $195 and are available through the Hay House Australia website.
