The Solar Plexus Chakra is responsible for the self identity and the ego. It also influences personal power and self confidence.

The third chakra is also called the will chakra and is located in the aura in the region of the solar plexus, above the navel.

The chakras spin faster as they move up the body. This chakra spins faster than the second chakra and vibrates at a higher level than the first and second chakras. It is also associated with creativity.

The third chakra resonates with the musical note E. Humming or chanting in the key of E can help clear the solar plexus chakra.

Elements of the Solar Plexus Chakra

The age of resonance for the solar plexus chakra is between the ages of fourteen and twenty one. It is associated with the color yellow and the element of fire.

In her book How Psychic Are You: 76 Techniques to Boost Your Innate Power, Julie Soskin suggests to look for golden gems or crystals to heal the yellow chakra such as yellow topaz, citrine, and amber. She also suggests placing the chosen crystal above the navel. The healing benefits from this include a calming of stress built up in the stomach area. As well it can help with eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia.

Blocked Third Chakra

In her book The Psychic Pathway: A workbook for Reawakening the Voice of Your Soul, Sonia Choquette says when your chakras are clear and open then your life is fluid and moves smoothly. If your chakras are blocked, shut down, or have a weak vibration your life will reflect this blockage.

This blockage can manifest in your physical, psychological, or mental state. If the third chakra is blocked it can show up in a low self esteem or in difficulties with your stomach area.

Opening the Solar Plexus Chakra

There are many ways to rebalance the seven chakras and to activate the flow of energy. A balanced third chakra gives you the awareness to know that it is important to live in harmony with others and to consider others when making decisions in life. It also increases your realization of the importance of self reliance, personal power, worth, and self esteem.

The following activities are encouraged to rebalance the third chakra:

  • Repeat affirmations of worthiness.
  • Explore and cultivate talents.
  • Learn to recognize integrity in oneself and others.
  • Create a list of achievements.
  • Imagine the yellow color of the solar plexus chakra and sing out the sound "ah" in the key of E.
  • Laugh at things you fear to strengthen this chakra. See the humour in the situation.
  • Eat fish, chicken, eggs, oranges, carrots , sweet potatoes, and squash.
  • Take in the energy of the sun by planting sunflowers or basking in the light from the sun.

The Energy of the Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra governs personal power, ego, physical energy, and self identity. It is very important to keep the energy of this chakra open as it is connected to the will to live and vitality for life. Meditate to open this chakra by visualizing a yellow orb that glows outward from the stomach area. Visualize the orb filling your stomach area with healing yellow light.
